Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
The Harrell Learning Center is a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS is a proactive movement to define, teach, and support appropriate behavioral supports so that all students in a school can achieve social, emotional and academic success. To learn more about PBIS, please visit the Georgia Board of Education website
Daily Reward Time (DRT)
At the end of each school day, students are rewarded for their positive choices and good behavior. Students choose from a variety of fun activities. To support students who struggle with social skills and appropriate interaction with others, Focus Camp is an option during DRT to support students' social skills.
Hurricane Exchange
The Harrell Learning Center's PBIS store encourages students to make positive choices. When students use behavioral strategies or support one another with kindness and patience, they earn Hurricane Bucks. Students use spend PBIS Hurricane Bucks to "purchase" prizes and snacks.
The Hurricane Exchange is available daily during Reward Lunch and Daily Reward Time. Students use Hurricane Bucks to purchase reward items.
Sensory Room
The Sensory Room is available to students in need of sensory support. This area allows students to relax if they are feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Students are closely monitored by staff while in this area.
