FAQ

Answers to Common Questions...

Is the Harrell Learning Center a "real" school?
Yes! All students receive rigorous academic instruction outlined by the Georgia Performance Standards. All students are assessed via End of Grade and End Course Georgia Milestone Assessments. All teachers are certified, highly qualified in their content areas, and hold advanced degrees. According to the Department of Education, GNETS is a "service" - consider us an extension of each school district that we serve.

Can I enroll my student at HLC?
No. Students who enter the Harrell Learning Center are recommended through the IEP team. Before a change of placement occurs, a Harrell Learning Center behavior team member consults with local education agency to provide specific recommendations of supports and/or interventions to help the student remain in the least restrictive environment possible.

Do students stay at HLC school forever?
No. The IEP team's ultimate goal is to provide intensive therapeutic interventions and support to students (and guidance to parents), so they may eventually transition back to their home schools. Students work toward meeting their IEP goals in order to transition back to a less restrictive setting.
