FAQ
Here are the answers to common questions we receive:
Is the Harrell Learning Center a "real" school?
Yes! All students are instructed using the Georgia Performance Standards. They are administered End of Grades and End Course exams that are required by state law. All teachers are certified teachers with many of them highly qualified in their teaching area as well as holding advanced degrees.
Can I enroll my student at HLC?
No. Students that enter Harrell Learning Center are recommended by their home schools' IEP team. Before a change of placement occurs, Harrell Learning Center faculty visits students at their home schools and provides interventions (referred to as Core Array of Services) to help the student remain at their home school. If this does not work effectively, the student then receives a change of placement.
Do students stay at the school forever?
No, the ultimate goal of the school is to transition students back to their home schools. When students enter HLC, exit criteria is developed so they know what they are working towards in order to transition back.
