In the event that HLC has to move to virtual learning, all students will need to have devices and internet access ready. If you do not have this, please contact your child's school of record to obtain the items (Chromebook and Hot Spot device). This must be done by Friday, August 21. If you have any questions, please call or email your child's homeroom teacher. The Harrell Learning Center will delay the start of in-person (face to face) learning and transition to distance learning for all students starting Wednesday, August 19th through Friday, August 28th. The plan will be to begin in-person learning for students who chose that option on Monday, August 31st, 2020.
Harrell Learning Center staff worked throughout the summer to develop safety plans with the health and well-being of our children and staff as our priority. One of these plans called for brief school closures if the school had isolated clusters of COVID-19 cases or “close contact” exposure in classrooms. We have had adults who had to quarantine due to positive test results or “close contact” exposure that will affect school operations. Following CDC and Georgia Department of Health guidelines when a student or staff member has been determined to be in “close contact” with a confirmed positive COVID-19 case, that person(s) must quarantine for 14 days. While we understand the spread of COVID-19 will happen in both the community and schools, our school will be diligent in our efforts to be extra cautious and make sure we do everything possible to decrease the spread. For this reason, the Harrell Learning Center will delay the start of in-person school briefly and move students to distance learning during that time. We will use this time for mitigation measures to slow/decrease the spread of the virus. Your child’s classroom teacher will be in touch with you as we begin with distance learning next week. Hello to all of our parents and students! It's that time!
Our first day of school will be Monday, August 17th. Here are a few things you need to know before arriving: * Student drop-off will begin at 8 am. This is a change from previous years, but we have implemented procedures to make sure we are following all safety precautions in response to CoVID-19. This time helps us to make sure we are ready for our students to arrive * 1 mask will be provided per student. Students must wear their masks on the buses. They also should be worn in the building when within 6 feet of others. Please provide a ziploc bag to store the mask. *Water fountains will be shut off, so please have students bring a clear water bottle. *Clear backpacks will still be our policy. *Please contact your school system's transportation department to find out morning pick-up time for your student as this may have changed. For families that have chosen virtual learning, you will be contacted the first week of school to get started. Please make sure you have a working number and/or email. We look forward to seeing everyone! Yearbooks are IN! Parents may pickup at HLC now through Thursday, June 11 from 9:30-2:00. There are extras available to purchase if you did not order one.
